CONTAINER shipping has become too complicated, claims the chief executive officer of the industry's newest entrant, The Containership Company (TCC).
Speaking to The Container Shipping Manager during his recent visit to Hong Kong, Jakob Tolstrup-Moller said he believed that these complications have hindered the industry and have been a great source of frustration for liner customers.
"For more than 20 years the industry has become very complex. You have extremely complex service offerings, you have hub and spokes, you have feeder connections, you have multiple operations to multiple destinations, via multiple services.
"What we said was, shipping is already complicated enough. Let's make it simple," he said.
This no doubt explains, at least superficially, why TCC has opted for the so-called ‘no frills' approach to running its business.
